Nintendo Says Two Pokemon Games Set Record for Sales in Americas

First week sales across Europe total over 1.5 million units, although it isn't clear whether this figure represents the number of units shipped or sold through to consumers.

Nintendo of America announced Pokemon Sun and Moon, the newest Poke-tandem released on November 18, are the fastest-selling games in Nintendo's history in the Americas.

Over 1.5 million copies of the latest entry in Game Freak's long-running RPG franchise were sold throughout Europe during the past week, with 368,000 of those coming in the UK.

The sales figure is a 85% increase over Pokemon X&Y which released during the same period in 2013 - a game which has sold 15.64 million globally, life-to-date.

All summed up, Nintendo has sold more than 280 million Pokemon games worldwide (as of May 2016) since the 1996 launch of Pokemon Red and Blue for the original Game Boy.
