Leaders in Khan al-Shih struck a deal with Damascus that would see their town brought back under regime control in exchange for an end to a government siege.

The Syrian government said immediately after the attacks that the US -led coalition was guilty of a "serious and blatant attack on Syria and its military", and that it showed the USA supports the Islamic State because the assault enabled Islamic State fighters to make important advances on the battlefield.

According to Syrian national newspaper SANA, eight people were killed on Wednesday and seven others were injured in rocket shells fired by the terrorist organizations on a number of residential neighborhoods in Aleppo.

A report from east Aleppo's Haidariyeh area by a correspondent for Al-Manar TV of Lebanon's Hezbollah group showed bulldozers removing barriers to open roads as Syrian troops rode in armored personnel carriers.

Other residents are shown attempting to flee carrying large bundles or children. "There are no functioning hospitals left, and official food stocks are practically finished in eastern Aleppo", he said in a statement.

He denied any revenge attacks or arbitrary detention took place. There was no way to independently verify the claim or reconcile the different death tolls.

Syrian government and allied troops have pushed their way into northern parts of the besieged enclave.

The UN Security Council is set to hold another emergency session on the crisis in Aleppo, Syria, on November 30 as a UN official called the situation there a "descent into hell".

Reclaiming all of Aleppo, Syria's former commercial capital, would be the biggest prize of the war for Assad.

Ayrault said he will meet Wednesday in Paris with the head of Aleppo's district councils, Brita Hagi Hasan.

The Observatory, a British-based war monitoring group, reported that the government was detaining and questioning hundreds of those fleeing rebel-held areas for the comparative safety of state-controlled districts.

"The situation of the revolutionaries inside the city is good, from a military point of view", he said.

O'Brien expresses concern for the civilians' fate, calling the situation in Aleppo "deeply alarming and chilling".

Syrian government and allied troops pressed their way into northern parts of opposition-held eastern Aleppo in the past couple of days, setting off a wave of panic and flight from the besieged enclave.

Syria's Red Crescent is offering assistance in government-held areas, but does not yet have access to eastern Aleppo.
