Why Bears' confidence in QB Matt Barkley is growing

The last time the Titans played in Chicago was November 9th, 2008, marking the first time the Titans traveled to the Windy City for a regular season game since 1995, and it also marked the Titans' first appearance at the renovated Soldier Field, which re-opened in 2003 after extensive remodeling.

Titans quarterback Kerry Collins leads Tennessee in an aerial attack, completing 30-of-41 passes for 289 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions ... The Bears had a first down at the Tennessee 7 in the final minute when Josh Bellamy dropped a pass in the end zone.

With Jay Cutler shelved by a right shoulder injury, Barkley completed 28 of 54 passes for 316 yards and three touchdowns.

"I can honestly say I've been doing this for a long time, no matter what team, even as an assistant coach, and I don't know that I've ever seen receivers catch more balls than I do in practice", said coach John Fox.

Sunday was actually a very good day for the Titans, because the Houston Texans were upset at home by the San Diego Chargers to fall to 6-5.

"That's all you want", Mariota said.

"That's all you want - you want an opportunity this time of the year to get a chance to run at a division title, maybe make a run at the playoffs. Like everything, if it doesn't go real well, the more you do it, the better you get". In rushing, DeMarco Murray ran for 70 yards in 21 carries while Mariota had 29 yards in five carries.

Mariota threw for 226 yards and and at least two touchdowns for the eighth straight game.

At.500 after the win, the Titans head into their December 4 bye ahead of the 5-6 Colts and on the heels of the 6-5 Texans.

With Barkley making his first start, the Bears didn't shy away from the playbook as they took a few shots down the field early on. In the receiving end, Zach Miller posted 61 yards and a touchdown in three catches while Cameron Meredith added 49 yards in four catches. "You know even though we lost it's encouraging at the same time to see how these guys fought, so I think just moving on from here knowing that we can win". "As I told the team, [Sunday], it was a pretty gritty, hard-fought game to get back into it". I think that's the goal from here on out.

Four of Wilson's catches for 77 yards came in the 13:45 of garbage time at the end of the game, after he had dropped a handsome over-the-shoulder throw from Barkley of about 30 yards, and an even prettier over-the- shoulder throw of about 25 yards went right between his hands in the end zone. He has thrown 25 touchdown passes this season, setting a single-season record for a Titans quarterback. With five games left to play on the 2016 schedule, the most intriguing storyline facing the team is where they'll end up picking in the first round of the 2017 National Football League draft.

Instead of taking a step forward coming off a six-win season, they have regressed.

"It's better than relief", Titans coach Mike Mularkey said.

But it was all Titans the rest of the half. The first came on the opening play of the game, when Marquess Wilson was able to draw a 33-yard pass interference penalty.

Barkley credited the comeback to going no-huddle. Fox had his team in position to win, playing with fire, at the end of a game with half his starting lineups in sick bay.
