Rams exec: Jeff Fisher shouldn't be judged on record alone

Rams exec: Jeff Fisher shouldn't be judged on record alone

Fisher reiterated Tuesday that Dickerson is welcome to be around the Rams (4-7).

But neither man gave ground Tuesday in their feud, one that has plunged the struggling National Football League team into controversy. One would be wrong because that assumes Fisher cares about being a good coach.

Dickerson's message to Fisher was that he won't attend games or practices as long as Fisher is around. I want him to be a part of this. "I have great respect for him".

The tempest stems from a situation that began about two weeks ago but did not come to light until Monday.

Dickerson told Fox Sports Radio, that the call came after the former Rams running back had requested sideline passes for some friends for the team's November 20 home game against the Miami Dolphins.

"Danny" was the other name Fisher mentioned, and this one's a little more hard to pin down.

The Rams are 4-7 in their first season back in Los Angeles, and now they seemingly have alienated one of the franchise's most popular players.

Fisher could not be reached for comment after Dickerson's radio comments.

"They have the right to do that", Fisher said at his weekly Monday news conference at Cal Lutheran.

It's been a rough 48 hours for Jeff Fisher. If he is, then sports bloggers everywhere should thank him for providing us with so much easy content.

In talking to the New England Patriots' media in the lead up to his team's game against Tom Brady and Co., Fisher attempted to loft praise his opponent's way. More than likely, given the Rams status in the NFC West, the Rams will let Fisher go at the end of the season.

The Rams already have a fan base historically divided by everything from region to memories to uniform colors.

Cornerback Lamarcus Joyner said Rams players were looking forward to playing the Patriots. That's not my job. I don't want to hurt my players but I have to say what I see. You could get fired, (general manager) Les Snead could get fired, (VP of football operations) Kevin Demoff can get fired, but I will always be Eric Dickerson of the Los Angeles Rams. "But I don't even want that distraction". The other possibility is Danny Amendola, the Patriots wide receiver. "He had the nerve to call me to tell me that".

Fisher started the week in a public spat with Eric Dickerson after declining the Pro Football Hall of Famer sideline passes to Rams home games.

Los Angeles Rams chief operating officer Kevin Demoff hinted that head coach Jeff Fisher's job is safe, adding that just looking at the veteran coach's record when evaluating his job performance is "unfair".
