Manchester United target Nelson Semedo joins Barcelona

Semedo, while known as an attacking right-back, is also strong defensively. Fear not, dear reader, Squawka has you covered!

Sadly, the tournament didn't finish too well for Semedo, the defender was sent off in the third place play-off fixture against Mexico. This man is blindingly fast. So impressive was his form that there's little surprise in Portugal that he's moved to Camp Nou - Kundert even suggested "it could prove a bargain for Barcelona". It's baffling to be. Jordi Alba has already shown the value of pace as a defensive weapon in Catalunya, and now Nelson Semedo will offer the same amount of "wait where did he come from?!" last minute defensive interventions. But their right has been comparatively slow.

"I have a contract over there [at Arsenal]", he said following Spain's 1-0 defeat to Germany in the final. This man has supreme close control and dribbling skills, the kind that allow him to snake by a defender or two, or three. With their pursuit of Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti set to drag on all summer, the Catalan contingent wanted to wrap up a deal for Semedo as quickly as possible. It's almost ridiculous to see a full-back so willing to take those kinds of risks, but Semedo executes his dribbling moves with such prowess those risks are not risks at all.

According to The Mirror, Barcelona were willing to pay £30m to do a deal.

The Portuguese giants have asked for more than the initial €35 million Barcelona have prepared for the 23-year-old, with Benfica hoping that Jose Mourinho's interest in Semedo will spark a bidding war, now that Barcelona have been struck back in their chase for Arsenal youngster Hector Bellerin.

Semedo won't have that problem.
