Mourinho on Ibrahimovic: It's not something urgent

Ibrahimovic's one-year deal at Old Trafford expired in June and was not extended following the injury. 'He is not ready to play tomorrow.

"He wants more at football's highest level, so we are having conversations and we are discussing the possibility of him staying with us for the second part of the season". He thinks he can do more.

United kick off their Premier League campaign at home to West Ham on Sunday, having won six of their seven pre-season friendlies.

United's second top scorer in the league last season was Juan Mata with six while Marcus Rashford, Paul Pogba and the now departed Wayne Rooney each managed just five.

This much was self evident, when United's new No.9 - the number which Ibrahimovic occupied last season - Romelu Lukaku deemed it necessary to seek the Swede's permission before taking his desired squad number.

"Victor can play right-back and can play centre midfield, we got a centre midfielder and we got an attacking player", he said.

"The league is special because it is such a tough division to win", said Carrick.

Whether that means as a striker pairing or not is yet to be seen but should Ibrahimovic return to Manchester United, it would make for some interesting competition.

Ibrahimovic, who turns 36 in October, quickly became a fans' favourite among the Reds faithful last term, hitting 17 goals in the Premier League alone and scoring two winning goals at Wembley to clinch the Community Shield and EFL Cup respectively.

"I don't think I am in a position to be moaning and crying".

He added: "If the remaining 25 per cent doesn't arrive by 31 August, I will not moan".

"The other 25 percent (of the transfer targets) will be another player playing from the sides".
