BlackBerry confirms Priv will not get Android Nougat

Samsung has not confirmed this, but it is possible that the company would want to let the device owners take a test drive of the upcoming updates. The news was confirmed by company's General Manager Alex Thurber. The unofficial ports of Android Nougat or Oreo is also close to impossible as there's no Custom ROMs available for the Priv.

However, the Priv, DTEK50 and DTEK60 will continue to receive Android security updates in the near future.

There is no official word yet from Samsung regarding the arrival of Android 8.0 Oreo to their devices.

Android Nougat brings in a bunch of new features including split-screen multitasking, more customisable quick settings, improved Google keyboard, enhanced notifications, and recent applications window. The update is now live over-the-air (OTA) and will automatically reach your Galaxy A7 SM-A720F unit. However, Samsung might already be working on the Android Oreo update and after the OS is developed for Samsung smartphones, the S8 and S8+ are probably the first in line to run the latest Android version. In the times when phones with physical keyboards are rare to find, BlackBerry Priv features a slider physical QWERTY keyboard rendering a corporate look to the device. The phone was launched at Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS and runs the Snapdragon 808 hexa-core processor paired with 3 GB RAM.

The BlackBerry Priv was one of BlackBerry's first Android devices - it carried the same design language from the Canadian company, but it was one of their first to try Android, all in 2015. There's a 18MP rear camera with f/2.2, OIS, and PDA and 2MP front camera. How it goes moving forward is the question, and as usual we'll have to wait and see. The device gets is strength from a 3600 mAh battery with Fast Charging support and also houses a fingerprint scanner.
