Los Angeles granted 2028 Summer Olympics

Paris will host the 2024 Olympics and Los Angeles will stage the 2028 Games, the International Olympic Committee has confirmed.

Both cities made presentations with speeches and videos. The words the Los Angeles mayor spoke told it another. "I'm feeling an emotion I have felt only rarely in my life".

For the second straight night Wednesday, some of the city's landmarks and buildings were to light up in support of LA 2028, including Capitol Records in Hollywood, City Hall, Griffith Observatory, Hollywood Bowl, the Ferris wheel on Santa Monica Pier, the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, UCLA, which will host the athletes' village, and the University of Southern California, which will host the media. "After three failures we are finally bringing the games home". We are united as we stand for our values, for diversity, respect, tolerance.

The budget-busting reached its peak with the 2008 Beijing Games for which costs ballooned to a vertiginous 32 billion euros, more than ten times the original budget. "When Paris wins, France wins".

Mr Bach simply asked for a show of hands from the audience and, when dozens shot up from the audience and nobody raised their hand when he asked for objections, this was deemed a unanimous decision.

"It would be a victory for terrorists if we had no more Olympics".

Olympic partners and supporters of the bid teams also welcomed the announcement.

Tokyo, the host of the next summer Games in 2020, has also had to fend off allegations of corruption regarding the decision to award it the Games four years ago. "For my city I couldn't be happier".

"This was the right answer, it was about fraternity, it was about friendship, it was about finding a win-win".

"For me this is truly a day of real emotion. It feels like this".

With nine Canadian national training centres centralized in Greater Victoria, numerous athletes training here will eventually be competing at Paris 2024 and L.A. 2028.

Other than an LA 2028 sign posted at the Coliseum, there were no festivities at the site of the opening ceremonies in 1932 and 1984.

"In theory, the winner of an auction is the most optimistic participant and the one prepared to outbid everyone else", said Andreff, one of three experts who contributed to a financial impact study commissioned by the Paris bid team.

The smooth finish to the race also eliminates the risk of the vote being tainted by the sort of scandal that has embroiled the ballot for the 2016 Olympics.

With rain drops on the camera lens, the Olympic rings are shown in Trocadero plaza that overlooks the Eiffel Tower in Paris. "We are ready to work from now until 2024", said Ludovic Besson, a French decathlon athlete.
