Bolt's pal Bailey out to dazzle Bayern

StarTimes subscribers this weekend will continue to enjoy live matches from the Bundesliga season as two giants of the Bundesliga, Bayern Leverkusen and Bayern Munich returned to action yesterday on StarTimes World football (channel 254 and 245).Bayern Munich Coach, Heynckes - the brains behind Bayern's 2012/13 unprecedented Bundesliga, DFB Cup and UEFA Champions League haul - has worked wonders since returning to the hot seat in place of Carlo Ancelotti on October 6, 2017.

That form has not gone unnoticed, with Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United reportedly keeping tabs on the rapid winger and sporting director Voller is well aware that if a big club does come in for him, Leverkusen may not be able to resist a significant offer.

"I've been friends with Usain for four years now, we play football and hang out sometimes", 20-year-old Bailey told Bundesliga.com after posting a picture of himself alongside Bolt last month.

Just when the hosts were on the front foot, Bayern doubled the scores out of the blue as Rodriguez passed into the path of Franck Ribery, who had all time and space to place the ball into the bottom near corner in the 59th minute. "We don't have enough natural goalscorers so we have to try and work on that without losing our defensive qualities".

Javi Martinez and Franck Ribery scored either side of the break for Bayern before Kevin Volland pulled one back for the hosts to set up a frantic finale. "No one is thinking about the lead in the standings", Wagner said. With Arjen Robben expected to return from injury, Bayern's attack could be even more dominant.

Ribery then made sure of the three points on 59 minutes in emphatic style.

Bayern defeated Leverkusen in the first game of the season 3-1, with Niklas Süle, Corentin Tolisso, and Lewandowski scoring. The visitors took the lead in the 32nd minute when Martinez fired in from close range after Leverkusen failed to clear an Arturo Vidal header. The 30-year-old Germany striker joined from Hoffenheim.

However, Rodriguez's free kick dashed home hopes as Bayern won at Leverkusen for the first time since their 2013 treble-winning season.
