The Latest: Lynch defends herself amid criticism from Comey

During a Sunday night interview with George Stephanopoulos of "20/20", former FBI Director James Comey claimed that President Donald Trump was "morally unfit to be president".

A new poll has found nearly 50 per cent of Americans find former FBI Director James Comey more believable than President Donald Trump.

Despite his being a congenital liar, serial philanderer, and a juvenile boor with astonishingly poor judgement, Trump managed to fool a lot of people into believing he was presidential material.

Days prior to the 2016 election, Comey sent a letter to Congress announcing his intention to reopen the investigation into Hillary Clinton's emails after discovering additional emails on the former Rep. Anthony Weiner's computer while investigating him for alleged sexting with a underage girl.

"I honestly thought these words would never come out of my mouth, but I don't know whether the current president of the United States was with prostitutes peeing on each other in Moscow in 2013".

- Comey writes that Trump said he was thinking about asking the FBI to investigate the allegation to prove it was a lie.

By that point Mr Flynn was suspected of lying to the FBI about his Russian contacts.

The former fed also expressed his astonishment with Trump's relationship with the truth. "And if we lose that, if we lose tethering of our leaders to that truth, what are we?" "Because we'll be custodians of the security of this country.' There was none of that".

"It's certainly some evidence of obstruction of justice", Comey answered.

In his book, Comey reflects on his days as a mob prosecutor in New York and compares Trump to a Mafia boss: "The silent circle of assent". "Maybe it was a contrarian streak or maybe it was something more complicated that explained his constant equivocation and apologies for Vladimir Putin".

The publicity tour - and the book - will be the first time the American public has heard extensively from Comey since his explosive testimony before the Senate Intelligence Committee in June of last year. "It would depend upon other things that reflected on his intent".

"That mystified me even after President Trump became president, 'cause I discovered that he wouldn't criticize him even in private", Comey said. It contains unflattering descriptions of both the president and First Lady Hillary Clinton.

Lynch also says that Comey never raised any concerns with her regarding the email investigation. "The most important being truth", he added.

- Trump was fixated on the story about a dossier alleging that he had Russian prostitutes urinate on a Moscow bed where Barack Obama once slept. 'I think he's morally unfit to be president, ' Comey told Stephanopoulos.

As for Mr Trump's hands, "as I shook his hand I made a note to check the size and it seemed like he had average-sized hands", he told Stephanopoulos.

Still, he says it strikes him as unlikely, but something that he can't say without high confidence. Schiller testified that he stood outside Trump's hotel room for a time and then went to bed.

But while Comey sharply criticized Trump, he said he hopes the president is not impeached. Mr Trump talks about and treats women like pieces of meat.

In his absorbing new book, "A Higher Loyalty", the former F.B.I. director James B. Comey calls the Trump presidency a "forest fire" that is doing serious damage to the country's norms and traditions.
